Your FSA Expires. Your Style Doesn't. How to Use Your FSA or HSA on Prescription Eyewear
The SPECSBYLUX guide
Your FSA expires.
Your style doesn't.
How to put pre-tax FSA and HSA dollars toward prescription eyewear you'll actually wear every day.
Most FSA plans reset at the end of the year.
That pre-tax money your employer helped you set aside for health expenses? It covers prescription eyewear. Glasses with your prescription, prescription sunglasses and new Rx lenses for frames you already own all count. And on most FSA plans, whatever you don't spend by the deadline is gone.
The short version: if it corrects your vision, it's generally FSA/HSA eligible. Have a current prescription, pay with your FSA/HSA card at checkout (or submit your itemized receipt), and you're done.
The fine print, by the numbers

Nearly 1 in 2 people left money behind. We'd rather it end up on your face.

Good questions
FSA/HSA FAQ
Do I need a prescription?
Yes. Prescription glasses, prescription sunglasses and prescription lenses are generally eligible. Non-prescription sunglasses and off-the-shelf readers are not.
Can I use my FSA/HSA card at checkout?
In most cases, yes. Enter it like any debit or credit card. If your card is declined or you'd rather pay another way, pay as usual and submit your itemized receipt to your plan for reimbursement.
How do I get an itemized receipt?
Email info@specsbylux.com with your order number and we'll send one over.
Can I put new lenses in frames I already own?
Yes. With Use Your Own SPECS you send us your frames and we fit them with your new prescription. Prescription lenses are generally FSA/HSA eligible.
What if my FSA has a grace period or carryover?
Some employers let you carry over up to $680 into 2027, or give you until mid-March to spend it. Plans offer one or the other (or neither), so check with your plan administrator.
Your FSA,
your face.
Put it toward something you'll wear every day: Rx SPECS, Rx SUNSPECS or new lenses in the frames you already love.
FSA/HSA eligibility depends on your plan. Prescription eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses and prescription lenses are generally eligible; non-prescription sunglasses are not. Deadlines, carryover and grace periods vary by employer, so check with your plan administrator. This article is not tax advice.
